Charlie Mc also has a thought-provoking if somewhat ellipic post up suggesting that the ‘austerity vs growth’ debate that Hopi is now publicising (though I’m not sure the Guardian leader he refers to adds much too it) really need to be set in the wider debate of what kind of economic system we want to see when the recession is over, and how that question goes beyond the narrow (Pestonlike) focus on scale and type of regulation into the more essential matters of equality and distribution.
He’s right, and I’ll be coming back to that too, as coping with the present is less use of we’re not also concerned with priciples for the future.
